John Baldoni
John Baldoni is an internationally recognized leadership consultant, coach, author and speaker.
John has taught what it means to inspire at the top of a mountain in the Canadian Rockies. At sea level in Orlando, Florida, John spoke to nearly one thousand USAF/JAG commissioned and non-commissioned officers on leadership and communication. And his new book, Lead Your Boss, was hailed by Harvard Business Review as a "guide that provides useful advice... [and] is encouraging and inspirational."
Also in 2009, John was named one of the world's top 25 leadership experts by Top Leadership Gurus International. In 2010, Leadership Gurus named John number 12 on its list of top thirty list of global leadership gurus.
John speaks widely to health care, professional, and military audiences. Those who attend John's keynotes and workshops find his advice to be practical and his advice inspirations. Mixed with stories of great men and women, and leavened with light hearted humor, John seeks down-to-earth practical advice that individuals can apply immediately. John's presentations blend his passion for leadership with genuine enthusiasm for helping people achieve their leadership ambitions.
John published his eighth book, Lead Your Boss: The Subtle Art of Managing Up (Amacom), in Fall 2009. He followed this up with 12 Steps to Power Presence (Amacom) that explores how leaders use their presence lead more effectively. John's first full-length book, Personal Leadership, Taking Control of Your Work Life appeared in 2001. Over the next six years, John penned six more books, including the Great Leaders trilogy for McGraw-Hill on communications, motivation and results. His seventh book, Lead By Example (Amacom), was named a "best leadership book" of 2008 as well as a Book of the Month (December 2008) selection by Entrepreneur.com. Over the years, John's many books have been translated into multiple languages including Mandarin, Indonesian, Japanese, and Korean.
In 2010 John worked with Marshall Goldsmith and Sarah McArthur to edit the AMA Leadership Handbook which includes essays on leadership from some of the world's most eminent leadership experts including Paul Hersey, Frances Hesselbein, Beverly Kaye and Jim Kouzes.
As a recognized thought leader in leadership and communications, John's executive coaching focuses on helping managers become authentic leadership by focusing on communications, influence and motivation. John specializes in leadership presence, which he defines as "demonstrating earned authority." John's coaching clients including Fortune 1000 companies as well as non-profits.
John is a regular leadership contributor to the online sites of Harvard Business Review, Bloomberg/BusinessWeek, Fast Company and the Washington Post. John's articles have appeared in WallStreetJournal.com as well as Leader to Leader and the Wharton Leadership Digest.
John has been quoted by scores of publications including the New York Times, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Globe and Mail (Canada), HR Management, and Washington Post as well as Business Management Review (China). Additionally John has appeared on many radio programs, including the national version of the Michael Smerconish Show. Reviews of his work have appeared in a number of publications including Investor's Business Daily, Training & Development, Sales & Marketing Management, WashingontPost.com and The Hindu.
John has created a video coaching series for Athena Online and a series of coaching podcasts for CXO Media. These forms of media give John the opportunity to reach a wider audience with his leadership insights designed to help managers become effective leaders.
