Wayne A. Sensor
As the chief executive officer of Alegent Health, Wayne A. Sensor leads the largest integrated health care system in the region. Alegent Health is a not-for-profit, faith-based health care system with over 1,300 physicians, and 9,000 employees committed to making health care better. Alegent Health is comprised of five metropolitan medical centers, four rural hospitals and 44 primary care clinics with 125 physicians in Nebraska and Iowa. It has multiple collaborative affiliations with other health care providers in the region.
Since joining Alegent Health, Sensor has been responsible for a number of innovations and initiatives, including: launching the Quality Revolution which has introduced a new model of consumer-driven health care, pioneered a more proactive method for reporting quality data in meaningful, transparent ways that empower consumers to make better-informed health choices; and resulted in the development of a first-of-its kind tool called "My Cost" to share cost information transparently with the community. Sensor has also hired one of the first Chief Innovation Officers in health care and created an accelerated decision making tool called Right Track, which is engaging its community and its stakeholders in designing the next generation of health care.
Wayne Sensor has nearly 25 years of experience in leading major health care systems, previously serving as President and Chief Executive Officer at CHRISTUS Schumpert Health System in Shreveport, Louisiana, a Catholic, not-for-profit regional system owned and operated by CHRISTUS Health in Dallas, Texas. With his experience and success in health care strategy and relationship building, Sensor has been invited to speak for a number of professional organizations across the nation, including the American Hospital Association Leadership Summit, the World Health Care Congress, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, the Physician Strategies Summit and State Hospital Associations across the Midwest. Sensor was invited to join the Premier, Inc., Quality Improvement Committee responsible for strategic insight in support of the organization’s long-term goal of becoming a major influence in reshaping health care. He was named to the Executive Committee for the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and was also selected as its Chair of the Public Policy Council. Sensor also serves on the National Governors Association’s State Alliance on e-Health and the HealthLeaders Advisory Board.
